The third race in the inaugural Racing Marbles League proved to be another bitter disappointment for SKUNK, and perhaps for the first time one could observe a look of defeat on his shiny face. Starting in 7th position in the 1st heat of the day, SKUNK would finish 6th and miss out on the main race as only the top 3 from each heat would move on. The official time for SKUNK’s dismal performance was 0:2:10.10.
“I thought maybe I just started the season in a slump, but 3 races in a row of not qualifying for the main event makes me wanna go sit in a room and contemplate what I’m doing wrong. Maybe I’m just not at the level of these other racers, I don’t know. I wish I had answers.”
The season is close to half way over, and it will almost take a miracle for SKUNK to get back into contention. Out of 21 places, SKUNK finds himself in dead last at number 21, with only 11 total points on the season. First-placed Panda holds 57 points.
“Well, I’m one point behind Duchess to get out of last place, so there’s something to shoot for,” SKUNK said with a smile to a small pool of reporters.
In the main race, Crimson Lady again made a spectacular finish through the closing turns as she edged out T-bot to cross the finish line in first place.
